Adrien is a partner at John W Ffooks & Co, where he leads its OHADA Practice team. His specialisations include telecommunication, banking and all aspects of commercial and business law across Francophone Africa, especially in the OHADA countries. Since joining the firm, he has led teams issuing opinions on Banking and telecom regulations across the region, as well as acting on several significant transactions in the business sector. Adrien is a resident Partner of the John W Ffooks Senegal office, which is listed as a leading firm by Legal500. Adrien obtained a Bachelor of Public Law from the University of Ottawa in Canada and a master's in the OHADA legal system from the University of Abidjan in Ivory Coast. He also holds a Master's in Diplomatic and Strategic Studies from the CEDS in Paris as well as a Doctorate in International Relations from the University of the Sorbonne in Paris. Before joining John W Ffooks & Co, Adrien ran his own practice in Rwanda from 1993 to 1997 and was a partner at Kazeneza & Partners in Kigali from 1997 to 2010. In addition to his client work, Adrien was a Member of Rwanda’s post-genocide Parliament for over a decade. Adrien is a dual Canadian/Rwandan national and a Rwandan-law qualified advocate. He has led the research team for the OHADA chapter of the Bankruptcy Strategies publication of Aspatore. He has also created a comprehensive database of OHADA-country knowledge, both on a supra-national treaty level and on a country-by-country basis. This gives Adrien and his team unparalleled access to texts and information in countries across the region. Adrien is fluent in French and English.
