Hoby is a partner at John W Ffooks & Co, where she leads its corporate and Telco/IT teams (including Private Equity). Her specialisations include corporate finance, telecommunication (licensing requirements, landing station regulations, privacy requirements, encryption and interception issues), financial services, restructurings, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures as well as senior and mezzanine debt financing. She advised in the acquisition of several thousand Cell Phone Towers across five jurisdictions and has recently closed a US$20.9 million debt finance for a chain of hotels across Africa. She advises a variety of institutions including domestic and international banks as well as financial institutions to support investments in different key sectors of development across French-speaking Africa. Hoby also advises a variety of local and international clients including investment funds with advice relating to capital market and loan practice, insurance and re-insurance companies, merchant banks in relation to international corporate law, merger and acquisitions practice and major industrials advising all aspects of their business including international trade law, international finance law, international investment protection law. She is listed as a Rising Star Partner by IFLR1000. Hoby is the firm’s representative to the International Bar Association (IBA) and a member of its Women in Law Section. Hoby read Law at the University of Antananarivo and obtained a Master of Laws form the Institute of Judicial Studies in Madagascar. Hoby is fluent in French and English.
